ebiz - a multi-sided ecommerce platform
Customer App · Vendor Platform · Admin Platform
Helping business manage their orders and digital exposure
ebiz is an ecommerce platform connecting local businesses with customers through a customer-facing app, while providing the shops with tools for products, orders, visibility and business management.
Full case description
-
Local shops struggle to get visibility online. Most don't have the budget, time, or expertise to market themselves effectively. And once orders start coming in, many are stuck managing them manually, with no simple system to keep track of what's been sold, paid, or fulfilled.
-
The ebiz app & vendor panel, was being built while the business itself was still taking shape, who the target customers were, what vendors actually needed, and how the platform should work were all being defined in real time. Requirements, wireframes, and user stories evolved constantly as the product direction shifted. As we began talking to vendors, we uncovered the real questions they had about the product and what would actually be in it for them.
Adding to the complexity, the frontend was built ahead of the backend, meaning designs had to anticipate functionality that didn't exist yet and stay flexible enough to adapt once it did. Keeping wireframes, user flows, and the evolving backend in sync required constant iteration and close, ongoing collaboration with developers.
In short: there was no fixed spec to design against. The product had to be defined and built at the same time.
-
Over the course of this project, I designed a complete, multi-sided ecommerce platform for ebiz, spanning the Customer App, Vendor Platform, and Admin Platform. What started as a business still figuring out its own direction became a cohesive system built around real vendor needs: simple order management, low-friction dashboards, and better visibility for local shops.
ebiz is currently live with an earlier version of the vendor panel and app, serving 5 stores. The redesigned platform featured in this case study is set to launch within the next month, bringing a more refined, scalable experience to both vendors and customers.
Designing under constant ambiguity, shifting requirements, a frontend built ahead of the backend, and a product still being defined in real time. Pushed me to stay flexible and make confident decisions with incomplete information. The result is a platform that's simpler for vendors to run, easier for customers to use, and built to grow alongside the business.
Customer App
The customer app has been designed to solve one big problem: making it faster, easier, and simpler for customers to buy from their favorite stores, while also making it easy to discover new ones. All of this comes down to a simple yet effective app that solves these exact needs.
Vendor panel
The vendor panel has been designed to solve one big problem: making it faster, easier, and simpler for vendors to manage their incoming, processing, and pickup orders. It's a useful tool for day-to-day order management, built around an easy-to-understand dashboard.
admin panel
The admin panel is made as simple as possible, to give a quick and clear overview of vendors. This makes it easy for the admin to see if any vendors need attention, or if shop or product categories need to be updated.
